Circular spaces

Circular Economy makerspaces

project logo

Makerspaces are open creativity and learning spaces that support communities, start-ups, and entrepreneurs with the infrastructure they need to bring their ideas and concepts to life. While these spaces have great potential to contribute to the development of the circular economy and the promotion of sustainability in communities, only a fraction of them are focused on creating solutions based on environmental awareness, eco-design, or the re-use of materials. Therefore, Circular Spaces project aims to strengthen the skills and motivation of makers operating in these spaces to act as sustainability promoters in their communities working in the field of circular economy.

The project aims to create a network of makerspaces in the Baltic Sea Region based on cooperation on eco-design and reuse of materials. The project will provide makers and their spaces with tools enhancing their knowledge and practical skills in the circular economy, thereby changing their attitudes towards more sustainable use of resources and increasing their motivation to create new environmentally friendly solutions. Circular Spaces project will also introduce a digital tool helping makers to track the virtual movement of components and materials, the use of products and recycled materials, and to discover new partners.

The project is expected to involve at least 5 makerspaces within the Baltic Sea Region and at least 300 makers or start-ups.
