SYNERGY
Building synergies in R&I funds for greater effectiveness and impact of Smart Specialisation Strategies
Promoting regional synergies between ESIF and other funding programs and finance instruments could maximize the specific value added of investments such as the capacity to support effectively research capacity building and the exploitation of research results for raising the overall social and economic impact of European Research and Innovation (R&I).
However, the concept of synergies encompasses a broader set of different objectives than just combining funds. In addition, to implement synergies effectively, it is necessary to establish a monitoring system and study on the modalities, extent of the actual fulfilment of the synergies as well as its impact on regional R&I.
SYNERGY aims to build successful synergies in Research and Innovation funds for greater effectiveness and impact in Smart Specialisation Strategies (S3), by tackling the main hurdles for the implementation of synergies through the improvement of Policy Instruments.
